Getting the breed right

Breed shirts live or die on accuracy. A biewer terrier owner will spot a design drawn from the wrong breed immediately, and crosses are the easiest to get wrong — the coat and the ear shape are usually what gives it away. Look at the artwork before the slogan.

There is one design for this breed, so the only question is whether the drawing matches the dog you have in mind.

Who it is for

This works for someone who has explained their breed to strangers more than once — the rare breeds and the crosses especially, since those owners almost never find themselves on a shop shelf. It falls flat for someone who just likes dogs generally; for them a plain dog design is the better buy.

A separate breed, not a Yorkie

Biewers came from a colour variation in Yorkshire Terriers and are now their own recognised breed. Owners get told it is "just a Yorkie" and have the paperwork to say otherwise.

The coat is silky rather than woolly and grows continuously, so it is a haircut dog rather than a shedding one.

This is a breed almost nobody makes merchandise for, which is exactly why an owner would want it.
